October 17, 1989: Originally titled "Crimes of Passion", KISS released their 15th studio album "Hot In The Shade" in North America (October 23rd in the UK) featuring singles "Hide Your Heart", "Rise To It" and their biggest hit after "Beth", power ballad "Forever" (No. 8 US Billboard Hot 100).

October 17, 1989: Whitesnake released "Fool For Your Loving" as the lead single from their forthcoming album "Slip Of The Tongue". After the music video premiered on MTV, the song originally done by the band in 1980, was a No. 2 rock hit in the US. October 17, 1986: "You Give Love A Bad Name", the first single from the album "Slippery When Wet" was still climbing the charts, but Bon Jovi were about to start a UK tour, so the follow up "Livin' On A Prayer" was issued there early. October 17, 1988: Led by keyboardist Gregg Giuffria and produced by KISS' Gene Simmons, Connecticut rockers House Of Lords released their self-titled debut album in North America (January 23, 1989 in the UK), featuring singles "I Wanna Be Loved" and "Love Don't Lie".

October 17, 1981: Def Leppard's second studio album "High 'n' Dry", featuring rock hit "Let It Go" and power ballad "Bringin' On The Heartbreak", peaked at No. 38 on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. The album was reissued in May 1984 and after the success of "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" reached double platinum in sales 10 years later.

October 1988: Jon Bon Jovi was on the cover of Japan's "Music Life" Magazine. The new album was now available worldwide and the "Jersey Syndicate" Tour set to start on October 31st in Europe. Bon Jovi would then move on to Japan with two shows in Tokyo that began on New Year's Eve.
