Hair Band History (September 7th)

September 1987: With their new album "Hysteria" released a month earlier, Def Leppard were welcomed back to the big time and got the cover of Germany's Metal Hammer Magazine. The band scored their first Top 10 hit in their home country with "Animal" reaching No. 6. in the UK. Next single up in Europe was "Pour Some Sugar On Me", seven months before it was issued in North America... A No. 2 hit in the US (No. 18 in the UK). Kerrang! ad - September 3, 1987

Initially calling themselves "Shooze", followed by a stint as "The Generators", they eventually settled on "Kix" and released their self-titled debut album in early September 1981 that established the band's tongue-in-cheek rock and roll style. September 7, 1990: Vixen were touring the UK and on their way to Manchester after playing Birmingham one night earlier... "Vixen dress well but are not out to look pretty. They ignore the predictable and pathetic chants of 'Getcha tits out!' from 'the lads', instead getting on with the job of creating music with no muff and no fuss." -Kerrang! review (September 15, 1990).

September 7, 1990: Nearing the end of the "Liquor & Poker" World Tour promoting their latest album "Slip Of The Tongue", Whitesnake played Reykjavik, Iceland. The band would then head off for Japan, concluding the tour on the 26th in Tokyo.

September 1986: Over a year before its release, Great White already had plans to issue the album "Recovery: Live!", even cover photo options were shot and they had a track listing, but the LP would be preceded by the band's next album "Once Bitten" in June '87 with the live album released in January '88. -Kerrang!
