September 6, 1989: Mötley Crüe released their fifth studio album "Dr. Feelgood" in North America (one day earlier in the UK) featuring singles the title track, "Kickstart My Heart", power ballad "Without You", "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)" and "Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.)".

September 6, 1989: Opting not to play the obvious song, Def Leppard performed "Tear It Down" at the MTV Video Music Awards, the last time Steve Clark would appear with the band on stage. Sadly, Steve passed away just over a year later.

September 1989: Signed to EMI America after only four L.A. gigs, half-American, half-Japanese glam rockers Cats In Boots released "Shot Gun Sally" as the lead single from their forthcoming debut album "Kicked & Klawed". September 1987: Kerrang! reported that Vixen were signed to a recording contract. Their self-titled debut album would be released a year later.

September 1984: Nearly two months after its release in North America, Sammy Hagar's eighth studio album "VOA" (the title a reference to the Voice of America broadcast network) was now available in the UK. Single "I Can't Drive 55" was a massive hit in the US, but measuring speed in kilometers, not so much in the rest of the world. Kerrang! ad - September 6, 1984

"Hell-bent on infesting the earth", RATT were performing nearly every night, including at the Toledo, Ohio Sports Arena on September 6, 1984. Frontman Stephen Pearcy gave up on his dream of driving a top-fuel dragster and ended up a centerfold in Circus Magazine.

September 6, 1989: Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil punched Izzy Stradlin from Guns N’ Roses backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards. Vince was mad because Izzy allegedly assaulted Vince’s wife at Hollywood's Cathouse club several weeks earlier.

In attendance at the VMAs that night in 1989, RATT guitarist Robbin Crosby with his wife Laurie Carr and frontman Stephen Pearcy with girlfriend Britta Wilson.
