Hair Band History (September 12th)

Originally scheduled for release on September 14, 1988, "Bad Medicine", the lead single from Bon Jovi's forthcoming album "New Jersey", had leaked to several US radio stations, forcing a rush-release by the band's record label. The MTV music video featured comedian Sam Kinison... "Can we make a better Bon Jovi video than these guys can!?" 😁

September 12, 1989: Having shifted to a pop-metal sound, Aerosmith released their tenth studio album "Pump" in North America (one day earlier in the UK) featuring singles "Love In An Elevator", "Janie's Got A Gun" and "What It Takes" that propelled the LP to No. 5 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

September 1989: Swedish glam rockers Shotgun Messiah released their debut album featuring singles "Shout It Out" and "Don't Care 'Bout Nothin'". Formerly known as "Kingpin" they changed it upon learning another band had a copyright. September 12, 1984: The music video for RATT's "Wanted Man", the third single from the album "Out Of The Cellar", was added to the rotation at MTV in the US with "The RATT Gang" getting into a gun fight with another gang of cowboys who were also up to no good.

September 12, 1987: Opening for Y&T, Frehley's Comet played the Beacon Theatre in New York City. White Lion opened for both bands and after the show, Ace hung out with KISS' Paul Stanley at an afterparty held at the Tunnel Club.

September 12, 1985: Opening with "Looks That Kill", Mötley Crüe played Dane County Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin. The "Theatre Of Pain" Tour included special guest Loudness.
