May 5, 1990: Damn Yankees reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart with "Coming Of Age".

May 5, 1984: Billboard Magazine reported that a complaint from major retailer Walmart brought Scorpions back to familiar territory in the US where they had to change the cover of their latest album. In 1979, it was "Lovedrive", now "Love At First Sting". The inner sleeve was used.

Happy Birthday to Billy Idol and former Vince Neil guitarist Steve Stevens (May 5, 1959). Stevens won a Grammy award for his lead guitar work on the theme to Top Gun, "Top Gun Anthem" in 1987 (Best Pop Instrumental Performance).
