May 4, 1990: KISS launched the "Hot In The Shade" Tour in Lubbock, Texas with opener Slaughter, who were performing their first live show together. Afterwards, Slaughter were presented with awards for their debut album going gold.

May 4, 1996: Van Halen's last recording with Sammy Hagar, the single "Humans Being", debuted on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The song was included on the "Twister" Soundtrack (released May 7th in the US) and hit No. 1 at the end of the month. The movie opened May 10th. May 1993: Six singles wasn't enough from "Adrenalize" in the US and Canada, so Def Leppard issued a radio-only promotional single of "I Wanna Touch U". The music video was shot in Ottawa, Ontario Canada in late April '93.

May 1987: English band Shy released their third studio album "Excess All Areas" in North America (one month earlier in the UK), featuring their biggest hit "Break Down The Walls", co-written with Don Dokken. Release information source: Billboard Magazine New Releases - April 25, 1987.

May 4, 1986: After starting the year opening North American dates for Twisted Sister, followed by two months in Europe, Dokken returned to the States to join Judas Priest on the "Fuel For Life" Tour in Denver.

May 4, 1990: In support of their latest album "Slip Of The Tongue", Whitesnake brought the "Liquor & Poker" World Tour to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado with special guest Bad English.

May 1992: Love/Hate released the title track in North America as a single from their second studio album "Wasted In America". Release information source: HITS radio trade publication ad - May 4, 1992.

May 4, 1984: Van Halen released "Panama" as the second single from the album "1984" in the UK (one month later in North America). Release date source: Kerrang! ad - May 3, 1984; Debuted UK Official singles chart on May 19, 1984.

May 1986: Bon Jovi were in Vancouver recording their new album, still titled at the time, "Wanted Dead Or Alive". -Kerrang!
