May 1990: KISS followed up "Forever", the second biggest hit of their career, with "Rise To It". The music video shows Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons putting on make-up and talking about what would happen if they took the make-up off.

May 14, 1993: Poison brought the "Native Tongue" World Tour to Green Bay, Wisconsin with special guests Damn Yankees. Jackyl were originally advertised to be the third act, but replaced by Firehouse.

May 14, 1987: With their new album "Girls, Girls, Girls" in stores the following day, Mötley Crüe held a listening party at the Body Shop in Los Angeles. Guests included members of Whitesnake, who would support Crüe on the first leg of the North American tour that began a month later.

May 14, 1988: Billboard Magazine in the US reported that several large retailers complained about the cover of the new Poison album "Open Up And Say... Ahh!" (referring to it as "a grotesque woman with a phallic tongue"), including Wal-mart who refused to stock it, and leading to a censored cover for those outlets. The latest album from Great White, "Recovery: Live" was also targeted... The LP cover shows lead singer Jack Russell with a buzz saw aimed at his crotch and the cassette version "depicts the band operating on a sexually excited Russell." 🤭
