January 28, 1991: Mötley Crüe's "Dr. Feelgood" won the American Music Award for "Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Album", beating out Poison’s "Flesh & Blood" and Aerosmith’s "Pump".

January 28, 1991: Slaughter won "Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock New Artist" at the American Music Awards, beating out a solo Bruce Dickinson and solo Don Dokken.

January 28, 1991: Jon Bon Jovi and Alice Cooper at the American Music Awards.

January 28, 1983: Def Leppard released "Photograph" in the UK as the lead single from the album "Pyromania" (February 28th in North America). Joe Elliott has described the song as generally about "something you can't ever get your hands on." Release information source: Kerrang! ad - January 27, 1983.

January 28, 1985: David Lee Roth released his debut solo EP "Crazy From The Heat" in North America while still the lead singer for Van Halen, though he parted ways with the band later that year. The cover was shot in the Seychelle Islands. Release date source: Billboard Magazine - January 5, 1985.

January 28, 1989: "Waiting For The Big One!", Femme Fatale's Lorraine Lewis was getting a lot of attention in the UK and got the cover of Kerrang! Magazine, as well as the Inside poster.

January 28, 1989: BulletBoys and Tyketto played L'Amour in Brooklyn, New York and looking ahead, Winger and a solo Paul Stanley were on the bill for shows the following month... What a time for rock music.

BulletBoys had released their debut album in the fall of 1988, but were considered "too rock" for album radio in the US, which rarely considered a new band. Yet, the programming people at MTV felt it was right for their audience and that was the jolt the Boys needed... The LP hit the national sales chart for the first time the last week of January 1989.

January 28, 1988: With special guest Tesla, Def Leppard brought the "Hysteria" Tour to Nashville. "To be sure, lead singer Joe Elliott and his merry mates established their heavy metal credentials early and often with tunes such as 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' and 'Stagefright'... January 28, 1984: With a stage set named "Metropolis", Van Halen brought the largest production ever taken on the road by a rock band to Biloxi, Mississippi.

January 1986: Eddie Van Halen's wife Valerie Bertinelli appeared on "The Morning Show" in New York and revealed the title of the forthcoming Van Halen album as "5150", the first with Sammy Hagar, and she insisted that it is "very, very good." 😊

January 28, 2014: “We want to have some dignity,” Nikki Sixx told the press before signing a contract pledging that Mötley Crüe would never tour again. We all know how that went. On November 18, 2019, the contract was literally blown up 🥴
