January 29, 1978: Invited but a no-show, Electric Chicken guitarist Steve Clark finally auditioned for Def Leppard after bumping into Joe Elliott and former guitarist Pete Willis at a Judas Priest show and getting a second invite.

January 1990: After the grueling "Jersey Syndicate" Tour, Bon Jovi were ready for a break. Guitarist Richie Sambora was making a solo record and drummer Tico Torres was rumoured to be leaving the band 😯 -Kerrang!

January 1990: After having success at American rock radio, the push was on for McAuley Schenker Group's "Anytime" to climb the US Billboard Hot 100, so this ad was placed in one of the radio trade magazines. January 29, 1990: In the UK, Quireboys released their debut album "A Bit Of What You Fancy", featuring singles "7 O'Clock", "Hey You", and "I Don't Love You Anymore". Another song on the record titled "Sex Party" sounds fun 🥳 Release date source: Kerrang! - January 27, 1990.

January 1984: Kerrang! reported that model Christie Brinkley spurned David Lee Roth and "moved in with Billy Joel". A popular urban myth is the lyrics for Van Halen's "I'll Wait" are about DLR's ill-fated relationship with Brinkley, who ended up marrying Joel.
