Hair Band History (October 19th)

October 1984: KISS' "Animalize" World Tour was in Germany after wrapping a string of dates in the UK that included two nights at London's Wembley Arena. A review in Kerrang! Magazine called Paul Stanley "a male Marilyn Monroe" 😘

October 1988: Warrant's debut album "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" was supposed to be out before the end of the year, but delayed until January 1989 (Kerrang!). Good thing it happened that way...wouldn't want it messing with our memories.

October 19, 1987: Warlock released their fourth and final studio album "Triumph And Agony" featuring single "All We Are" with music video that played often on MTV Headbangers Ball. Release information source: [UK] Kerrang! - October 3, 1987; [US] The Hard Report 'Most Added' - October 30, 1987.

October 19, 1987: Night Ranger performed at Wapahani High School in Selma, Indiana, the prizewinner of a contest run with a brand of shampoo and shaving cream that appeared in many magazines including Seventeen.

October 19, 1987: A week after hitting No. 1 in the US, Whitesnake released "Here I Go Again" as a single in the UK. The band would return to where it all started for several sold out shows, including London's Wembley Arena, in late December that year. Release date source: Record label promotional letter.

October 1984: Featuring US Top 30 hit "Turn Up The Radio", Autograph's just released debut album "Sign In Please" was promoted with a "Rock 'N' Write" campaign, because we still used pens back then, that got you a free color poster of the band.

October 1989: Floridian sleaze rockers Roxx Gang released "Scratch My Back" in the UK as the second single from their debut album "Things You've Never Done Before", which inlcuded a free "Roxx Gang" tattoo transfer. Release information source: Kerrang! ad - October 18, 1989.

October 19, 2004: Twisted Sister re-recorded their 1984 smash album and according to the band, "Still Hungry" is "Stay Hungry", "the way it ought to be". Atlantic Records never remastered the original which may or may not have pissed off the band.

October 19, 1991: Released the 1st of the month, Mötley Crüe's first compilation album "Decade Of Decadence 81–91" debuted (and peaked) at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200. The LP included six of the band's greatest hits, plus three remixes and three newly recorded songs, highlighted by US rock hit "Primal Scream".

Featuring former KISS guitarist [Animalize 1984] Mark St. John, White Tiger released their debut album in 1986, which received praise for its songwriting, but criticized for poor production. St. John passed away in 2007.

October 19, 1987: Four months after its US release, Great White's third studio album "Once Bitten" was issued in the UK. Release date source: Kerrang! - September 17, 1987.
