August 18, 1986: Bon Jovi released their third studio album "Slippery When Wet" in North America (September '86 in the UK) featuring No. 1 singles "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Livin' On A Prayer" plus No. 7 "Wanted Dead Or Alive". The LP was No. 1 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart for eight weeks.

August 1983: Def Leppard released "Foolin'" as the third single from the album "Pyromania", which became a Top 10 US rock hit. The music video features Billy Idol's then-girlfriend Perri Lister playing the harp with her eyes closed.

August 18, 1990: Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Poison, Thunder and Quireboys played the "Monsters Of Rock" Festival at Castle Donington. Whitesnake's David Coverdale was on the cover of magazines RAW and Kerrang!

August 18, 1990: Poison's third studio album "Flesh & Blood" peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. With hit singles "Unskinny Bop", "Something To Believe In" and "Ride The Wind", the LP also went Top 5 in three other countries.

August 18, 1987: Canadian rockers Helix released their sixth studio album "Wild In The Streets" in North America featuring power ballad "Dream On" and the title track. August 18, 1984: AC/DC, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, Y&T, Accept and Mötley Crüe played the "Monsters Of Rock" Festival at Castle Donington. Many fans regard this Monsters show as the best of them all.
