Mid-August 1988: Ahead of the release of their debut album, Vixen released their debut single "Edge Of A Broken Heart", written and co-produced by Richard Marx, who also played keyboards. August 15, 1986: Released 10 days earlier, Bon Jovi's new single "You Give Love A Bad Name" was rocketing up the American charts and already knocking on the door of the Top 25. It would become the band's first No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early September.

August 1985: Scorpions issued the double live album "World Wide Live" two months earlier and now the companion video was available, recorded on the extensive "Love At First Sting" Tour in France, Germany and several dates in California. The VHS debuted on the US Billboard Music Videocassettes chart on August 31st.

August 15, 1988: With "A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" in US theaters on the 19th, the soundtrack was issued a few days earlier featuring "Love Kills" from the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Release date source: The Hard Report radio trade publication - August 5, 1988.

August 1992: Warrant released "Machine Gun" as the lead single from their forthcoming album "Dog Eat Dog". One review called it "their most aggressive single". The music video shows the band performing in front of a metal corrugated wall.

Mid-August 1989: Aerosmith released "Love In An Elevator" as the lead single from their forthcoming album "Pump". Steven Tyler has said it was based on an actual experience where he was making out with a woman in an elevator and the doors opened. August 15, 1984: On the road with DIO at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, Twisted Sister were awarded gold records for the "Stay Hungry" album by Mark Metcalf from the "We’re Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock" music videos and the movie "Animal House". The crowd erupted when he hit the stage.

Happy Birthday to Whitesnake and former Ozzy drummer Tommy Aldridge (August 15, 1950).

August 1990: "The Monsters Of Rock?", Whitesnake were getting ready to headline at Castle Donington on the 18th and frontman David Coverdale got the cover of Metal Hammer Magazine.
