Hair Band History (June 24th)

After a tumultuous two years in the wake of "Shout At The Devil"'s unexpected success, Mötley Crüe went more glam for their third studio album. Featuring singles "Smokin' In The Boys Room" and "Home Sweet Home", "Theatre Of Pain" was released in North America on June 24, 1985 (July 1st in the UK).

June 24, 1987: Def Leppard opened with "Stagefright" from "Pyromania" as they launched the "Hysteria" Tour with two shows in Tilburg, Netherlands. The "In The Round" stage was in the center of arenas with drummer Rick Allen in the middle.

June 1988: "With a newfound penchant for gritty blues-rock à la the Stones or Aerosmith", Cinderella released "Gypsy Road" as the lead single from their forthcoming album "Long Cold Winter". June 24, 1989: White Lion's latest album was in record shops worldwide and "Big Game Hunter" Mike Tramp got the cover of the UK's Kerrang! Magazine with a provocative headline.

June 24, 1989: Touring North America, Vixen played Worcester, Massachusetts. Three hit singles: "Edge Of A Broken Heart", "Cryin'" and "Love Made Me" made their debut album a Top 50 hit on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

June 24, 1991: With former Waysted vocalist Danny Vaughn, Tyketto's "Forever Young", from their debut album "Don't Come Easy", was released as a single in the UK. Release date source: Kerrang! - June 22, 1991.

June 24, 1985: Scottish hard rockers Heavy Pettin' released their second album "Rock Ain’t Dead" in North America (July '85 in the UK) featuring the single "Sole Survivor". Until 2004, the CD was unavailable for 15 years and selling on eBay for $100 or more. June 24, 1984: Scorpions were on the road in the US and brought the "Love At First Sting" Tour to Cincinnati. With vast exposure at Top 40 radio and MTV, the album released in March had already gone platinum and "The Scorps' Yankee tour is doing practically sell-out business, with only Van Halen outgrossing 'em on the road." -Kerrang!

June 1997: Vince Neil returned to Mötley Crüe and they released their seventh studio album "Generation Swine". Frustrated with poor sales of their previous album, they fired numerous people around the group, including their accountant.

June 24, 2008: Mötley Crüe released their ninth studio album (and last one to date) "Saints Of Los Angeles", their first full-length LP with the original lineup since 97's "Generation Swine". The title track was a Top 5 US rock hit. Release date source: Blabbermouth.net - June 5, 2008.
