Hair Band History (June 1st)

Almost a full year after Guns N’ Roses' debut album "Appetite For Destruction" hit stores, "Sweet Child O’ Mine" was issued as a single to American radio stations, debuting on the US Billboard rock chart on June 11, 1988 and the Hot 100 on June 25th. June 1987: White Lion single "Wait" was issued in North America, but radio and MTV didn't start playing it until December. The song first charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 in late February 1988, reaching the Top 10 in May that year. June 1992: Def Leppard released "Make Love Like A Man" in North America as the second single from the album "Adrenalize". Singer Joe Elliott has stated the song was not about the band trying to be "MACHO", just them trying to be funny. HITS Magazine radio trade publication ad - June 1, 1992

June 1, 1992: Firehouse released "Reach For The Sky" in North America as the lead single from their forthcoming album "Hold Your Fire". Written by guitarist Bill Leverty and vocalist C.J. June 1, 1991: After hitting No. 1 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in April, Queensrÿche's "Silent Lucidity" crossed over to pop and peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. The band's biggest hit, it was nominated for a Grammy the following year.

June 1, 1987: Keel released their fourth studio album "Keel" featuring the single "Somebody's Waiting". KISS' Gene Simmons had produced their previous two albums, but the band enlisted Michael Wagener (Dokken, Poison, Alice Cooper) for this one. Don Dokken sang backup on the track "I Said The Wrong Thing To The Right Girl". Release date source: Kerrang! - May 18, 1987.

June 1, 1990: Faster Pussycat opened for KISS at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis. The new single "Poison Ivy" from their second studio album "Wake Me When It's Over" was just issued in North America and MTV was on the music video. June 1, 1992: Originally written and recorded by British hard rock band Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction for their '91 album "Hoodlum Thunder", Alice Cooper released "Feed My Frankenstein" in the UK as a single from the album "Hey Stoopid". The song is also featured on the "Wayne's World" soundtrack and Cooper makes an appearance in the film, performing at a concert. Guest appearances on the track include Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Nikki Sixx, and Elvira (Cassandra Peterson). Release date source: Kerrang! - May 16, 1992.

June 1, 1991: After launching an eight-city UK tour in Cardiff, Wales one night earlier, White Lion and Tyketto played International II in Manchester, England...
