Hair Band History (April 26th)

April 26, 1985: Before Warrant, singer Jani Lane fronted a band called "Plain Jane" who were a regular feature on the Los Angeles club circuit, including this show at Chuck Landis' Country Club in Reseda, California.

April 26, 1986: Van Halen's "5150", their first album with Sammy Hagar, hit No. 1 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, where it remained for three weeks. It was also the first of four consecutive No. 1 LPs for Van Halen with Sammy on vocals.

April 26, 1988: With opener Poison, David Lee Roth brought the "Skyscraper" Tour to Minneapolis. Roth sang "Panama" from a boxing ring located at the other end of the venue and rode a surfboard back to the stage during "California Girls".

April 1992: Dismissed by Mötley Crüe in February, Vince Neil wasted little time preparing for his next musical adventure, enlisting the help of Damn Yankees Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw to launch his solo career that began with the song "You're Invited, But You're Friend Can't Come" featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Encino Man". Blades and Shaw took time out from recording the Damn Yankees second album "Don't Tread" and also had small parts in the movie. -Kerrang!

April 26, 1988: Canadian rockers Honeymoon Suite released their third studio album "Racing After Midnight" featuring Top 15 rock hit "Love Changes Everything". It was produced by Ted Templeman (Van Halen, David Lee Roth, BulletBoys). Release date source: RPM Magazine (Canada) ad - April 30, 1988.
