Hair Band History (January 2nd)

January 2, 1985: David Lee Roth appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. Asked about the future of Van Halen, DLR believed he would be going back into the studio to record a follow-up to "1984" 🙁
Originally issued over three months earlier as the lead single from their new album "Dancing Undercover", RATT's "Dance" was re-released as a single and the music video, which wasn't shot until well after the album was out in late September 1986, was put into heavy rotation on MTV from mid-December 1986 to early February 1987, revitalizing sales of the album.
January 1986: Going with the wind, Movie Mirror Magazine jumped on hair band hysteria by putting KISS on the cover, along with "Other Metal Wildmen"... Ozzy, Mötley Crüe, RATT, Stryper and more... The scene was exploding.
January 1990: Co-written by Joan Jett, Alice Cooper released "House Of Fire" as the third single from the album "Trash" in North America. A demo was first recorded by Bon Jovi. It was issued on the "New Jersey" Deluxe Edition in 2014. Release information source: [US] R&R radio trade publication ad - January 5, 1990.
Guitarist Jake E. Lee's first post-Ozzy Osbourne venture was "Badlands", and with a new record deal signed, the band was in the studio in January 1989 recording their debut album.
January 1990: Three months after its North American release, Pretty Boy Floyd's debut album "Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz" featuring singles "Rock And Roll (Is Gonna Set The Night On Fire)" and "I Wanna Be With You" was available in the UK. Release information source: Kerrang! ad - January 13, 1990.
Happy Birthday to Only Child lead singer and guitarist Paul Sabu (January 2, 1960). Paul has also collaborated with Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., Lee Aaron, Little Caesar and more.
A new year means a new calendar and these cool images from the Metal Maniacs calendar issued in 1986 can be used any year!... As long as you print a new bottom half each month with the current year's dates 😁 Good luck 🤘
