January 25, 1988: Bon Jovi won "Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group" at the American Music Awards over Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and U2, plus "Favorite Pop/Rock Album" for "Slippery When Wet" over Whitesnake's "Whitesnake", U2's "The Joshua Tree" and Paul Simon's "Graceland". The band was presented the album award by Cher.

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was involved in a life threatening car crash on New Year's Eve 1984 that resulted in the loss of his left arm. In January 1985, Kerrang! reported he "seems likely to remain a member of the band." ☺️

January 25, 2006: Mötley Crüe received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. "I remember walking Hollywood Blvd in the ’70s seeing these stars on the street...Never thought I’d be in a rock n roll band with one on the same street." -Nikki Sixx.

January 1989: Europe released "Let the Good Times Rock" as the third single (US) from the album "Out Of This World". January 1980: Featuring future Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen and future L.A. Guns singer Phil Lewis, Girl released their debut album "Sheer Greed" in the UK (May 1980 in North America). January 1986: "Super Teen Special, The Best Of Metal Edge" was oozing hair bands and you just had to have it... Bon Jovi, RATT, KISS, Lita Ford and a "Sizzling Mötley Crüe Centerfold!" OMG 💜

January 1990: "Up Yours!" Skid Row was on the cover of RAW (Rock Action Worldwide) and the band was the mags pick for the '90s. Inside was a giant poster of Bon Jovi.
