August 7, 1990: Jon Bon Jovi released his first solo album "Blaze Of Glory" in North America (one day earlier in the UK), featuring songs from and inspired by the western movie "Young Guns II", including the title track and "Miracle". Elton John, Little Richard, and Jeff Beck contributed to the LP. It was awarded a Golden Globe and received Academy Award and Grammy nominations. The album reached No. 3 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

August 7, 1990: Extreme released their second studio album "Extreme II: Pornograffitti" in North America (September 3rd in the UK) featuring hit singles "Hole Hearted" and No. 1 smash "More Than Words". Music videos for "Decadence Dance" and "Get The Funk Out" were shown on MTV Headbangers Ball.

Early August 1988: After concluding Van Halen's "Monsters Of Rock" tour July 30th in Denver, Scorpions were resting up before launching the "Savage Amusement" tour in Tucson, Arizona on August 9th. Meanwhile, the band's latest single "Believe In Love" was receiving substantial airplay on American rock radio stations on its way to becoming a US Top 15 rock hit. The music video begins with clips of Soviet soldiers walking through crowds.

Early August 1990: RATT released "Lovin' You's A Dirty Job" as the lead single from their forthcoming fifth studio album "Detonator". The track would go on to become a Top 20 US rock hit. Release information source: R&R radio trade publication - August 3, 1990.

Canadian hard rockers Sven Gali released their self-titled debut album in 1992 featuring singles "Under The Influence" and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". The LP went gold in Canada and was nominated for "Hard Rock Album Of The Year" at the 1993 Juno Awards.

Just over a year after its release and six dates remaining on the tour, the latest album from Whitesnake was a juggernaut at 6X platinum in the US. Hit Parader Magazine - August 1988
