August 1988: After a last-minute band name change from "Sahara", which appears on the cover, Winger released their self-titled debut album featuring singles "Madalaine", "Seventeen", "Headed For A Heartbreak" and "Hungry".

August 10, 1992: Def Leppard launched the North American leg of the "Adrenalize" World Tour (aka "7-Day Weekend" Tour) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Each show was performed in the round, first used on the '87/88 "Hysteria" World Tour.

August 10, 1987: Cinderella brought the "Night Songs" Tour to Japan with the first of four nights in Tokyo. Two songs from the not yet released "Long Cold Winter" album were already in the setlist, including "Gypsy Road".

August 1990: Lita Ford released single "Lisa" from her album "Stiletto". She wrote the song in honor of her mother, who was dying of lung cancer and eventually succumbed to it in 1995. August 1990: Ahead of the release of their fifth studio album "Against The Law", that revealed a change in musical and visual direction, Stryper issued the lead single, a cover of Earth, Wind and Fire's "Shining Star". August 1988: Featuring current Foreigner singer Kelly Hansen and the younger brothers of Quiet Riot's Carlos Cavazo and Rudy Sarzo, Hurricane released the title track as the second single from their debut album "Over The Edge". August 10, 1988: In the summer, a Wednesday can feel like the weekend, especially with White Lion and AC/DC in town for a show at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

August 10, 1995: Van Halen made a rare appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" in the US, performing the single "Not Enough" from the "Balance" album. Eddie Van Halen also played a full-length instrumental version of "Panama" with Letterman's Paul Shaffer-led house band.
