July 9, 1987: Def Leppard were on the cover of the UK's Kerrang! Magazine. Four-and-a-half years after the release of "Pyromania", anticipation was high for their forthcoming album... "The new disc is called "Hysteria", it cost over £1 million to make, but what the hell -- it's so good it's going to set the standard for every aspiring superstar rock band for the next five years."

July 9, 1988: Poison's "Nothin' But A Good Time", the lead single from the album "Open Up And Say... Ahh!", peaked at No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It only reached the Top 10 in one other country (Australia).

July 9, 1992: Damn Yankees released "Don't Tread On Me" as the lead single from their forthcoming sophomore album "Don't Tread". The song was also featured on the Olympics album "Barcelona Gold" and the video aired during coverage on NBC. Release date source: The Hard Report radio trade publication - July 3, 1992.

July 9, 1991: Kix released their fifth studio album "Hot Wire" featuring singles "Girl Money" and "Tear Down The Walls". Bassist Donnie Purnell is the only Kix bandmember credited as a songwriter. Release date source: Kerrang! - June 22, 1991.

July 1991: Rock music was on top and the soundtrack from "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey" was loaded with songs from Winger, Slaughter, Megadeth, KISS, Steve Vai, King's X and more. Release information source: Billboard Magazine Reviews - July 13, 1991.

White Lion's second studio album "Pride" took some time to catch on, but just over a year after its release, Top 10 hits "Wait" and "When The Children Cry" drove the LP to No. 11 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart and it was certified platinum. Billboard Magazine ad - July 9, 1988

July 9, 1989: Promoting their debut album in stores since mid-May, Badlands played the Paramount Theater in Ashbury Park, New Jersey with opener Extreme as part of the Jersey Shore Summer Concert Series.
