Hair Band History (March 8th)

March 8, 1982: Scorpions released their eighth studio album "Blackout" in North America (March 22nd in the UK). Featuring No. 1 rock hit "No One Like You", the album debuted on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart on March 27th and peaked at No. 10 in late May that year. After losing his voice during the writing of the album, singer Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords. Demos were recorded with Don Dokken, but none used and Dokken is only credited with backing vocals.

March 1988: With "Hysteria" in the Top 10 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, Def Leppard's Joe Elliott was on top of the world and on the cover of Hit Parader Magazine.

March 8, 1985: Poison, featuring frontman Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall, drummer Rikki Rockett and guitarist Matt Smith, played The Roxy in West Hollywood.

The second single issued off the debut album from Firehouse in December 1990 was putting the band on the hard rock map as "Don't Treat Me Bad" was on its way to being a US Top 15 hit. Gavin Report US radio trade publication ad - March 8, 1991

March 1984: Twisted Sister completed recording their third studio album, at the time tentatively titled "Stay Hungry". As we all know, they stuck with that and the LP hit record shops in June that year. -Kerrang!

March 8, 1994: David Lee Roth released his fourth studio album "Your Filthy Little Mouth" featuring rock radio hit "She's My Machine". The rest of the album was musically eclectic and recorded with all new players in DLR's band. Release date source: CMJ New Music Report - March 7, 1994.

March 8, 2019: Tesla released their eighth studio album "Shock", produced and co-written by Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen. Release date source: Blabbermouth.net - January 18, 2019.

March 8, 1986: Y&T concluded the "Down For The Count" Tour in Pomona, California.

March 1988: The latest issue of Kerrang! revealed Guns N' Roses had experienced some internal turmoil (not surprising) and it seemed Axl Rose would leave the band, but they patched things up... "When you're touring in such close proximity, arguments and stuff can run deep... But we all talked it through and we're happy about the situation again." -Slash

With Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest and Scorpions on the cover, Hit Parader featured "Heavy Metal Awards '84". All the bands we love are represented: Van Halen, RATT, Def Leppard and more. This list would make a great radio station 😉 🤘
