Hair Band History (March 5th)

March 5, 1986: After a bomb threat (called in by someone who complained he had been trying to ban rock 'n' roll but no one would listen) delayed the show by 35 minutes, KISS rocked Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Green Bay, Wisconsin with special guest King Kobra, who had just joined the tour as a favor asked by drummer Carmine Appice to Paul Stanley. According to Carmine, "'I heard KISS was changing opening acts... I asked him to consider us as a favor. We [also] talked to Gene Simmons."

Great White released their second studio album "Shot In The Dark" on Telegraph Records in early 1986 (Re-issued August that year on Capitol). Featuring the single "Face The Day", the band moved from metal to a more blues-influenced style of hard rock.

March 5, 1990: English hard rockers Thunder released their debut album "Backstreet Symphony" in the UK (April 1991 in North America) featuring power ballad "Love Walked In". It was produced by former Duran Duran and The Power Station guitarist Andy Taylor. Release date source: Kerrang! - February 17, 1990.

March 5, 1992: Europe just started a UK tour in Southampon a night earlier and were now in Newport, Wales. The encore was "Rock The Night". New single "Halfway To Heaven" was issued in the UK four days later. Image: Kerrang!

Swiss rockers China released their second studio album "Sign In The Sky" in 1990 featuring single "In The Middle Of The Night", a No. 2 hit in their home country.

March 5, 1990: Portland funk rockers Dan Reed Network released single "Rainbow Child" from their second studio album "Slam" in the UK. The band achieved greater success in Europe than their home country. Release date source: Kerrang! - March 3, 1990.

March 5, 1989: After launching the US leg of the "Long Cold Winter" Tour one night earlier in Louisville, Kentucky, Cinderella, Winger and BulletBoys performed at Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tennessee.

March 5, 1994: Scorpions brought the "Face The Heat" Tour to San Jose, California with special guests King's X. The tour was a haul at 108 dates in 31 countries.

March 5, 2002: MTV launched new reality show "The Osbournes", featuring Ozzy, his wife Sharon, son Jack and daughter Kelly. His other daughter, Aimée Osbourne, declined to participate in the show and moved out of the family home at the age of 16. The show ran four seasons and the first season became the most-watched series ever on MTV.

March 1990: "It'll Rock You To Shreds", Metallix Magazine featured Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil on the cover, along with Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, KISS and more.
